MIDWEST LACROSSE 6s TOURNAMENT Midwest 6s Tournaments
16 teams entered the inaugural Mid West sixes competition hosted by Cheltenham Lacrosse club last weekend.

Cheltenham Cougars are undergoing a mini revival of late, fielding two senior teams, a Ladies squad and the beginnings of a junior programme, with good links being formed with Gloucester University, Hartpury College and local schools the future looks bright for the club.

The venue at Gloucester Academy School incorporating Oxstalls Tennis Centre is big and adaptable, with plenty of space for expansion. The club hopes in the future to include Women’s teams.

Favourites from the beginning were Cardiff Harlequins, the only Premiership team in the West, however recently demoted Bristol Bombers and Bath, who just missed out on promotion were not to be overlooked.

Their were two trophies were up for grabs on the day the championship trophy being taken by Bristol Bombers beating Cardiff 3-2 in a fast flowing final that went to sudden death overtime. The other “plate” final went to the host club Cheltenham Cougars, beating Birmingham Bulls 6-3 in regular time.

This tournament is set to grow, Giving new West clubs like Trowbridge, and the Universities a chance to test themselves at a good level for their development.
