Cheshunt fail to end Welwyn's win streak
Match Report 25 Nov
It's rare to say a game was enjoyable when you lose by three, but in all fairness it's probably the best way to describe the away fixture to WGC.
Both sides played in great spirits with very few stoppages which was a credit to the two Welwyn umpires who officiated well to keep the game flowing. In the end, it really came down to the fact that the home side took their chances well, latching onto mistakes from the Cheshunt defence and fighting hard to finish from potential breakdowns (though to be fair their defensive shape was solid too). Despite this, there were some positives for the 1st XI as they did create a number of chances through set pieces and open play, as well as the shape of the new system continuing to show the improvements of the previous 2 Saturdays, mostly due to the discipline and hard work of all the players involved.
While it was a good game, next week becomes even more important as three teams are now level on nine points in the bottom five, meaning a win against bottom of the table West Herts is crucial in order to keep in range of the mid table.
