St Albans kicked off pressuring Cheshunt’s defence with an early strike heading for the top right corner but was saved by The Ambers keeper, Glenn Williamson. City’s attack was soon cut short as at 7 minutes, a cross from Jose Espinosa led to Cheshunt’s first goal of the game scored by Lee Brennan.
The next 30 minutes were filled with attempts from both sides, but neither managing to finish the final touch. A solid performance from Cheshunt’s Glenn Williamson, was seen throughout the first half with two more brilliant diving saves ensuring St Albans were goal-less.
At 37 minutes the scoreline was to be altered again as Cheshunt took the advantage of a precise corner from David Hicks which led to a second goal for Cheshunt as Andy West made it 2-0.


The second half began with excitement from the off, as Lee Brennan took a shot at goal after just 2 minutes, which was soon followed by a third goal for The Ambers as Jose Espinosa grabbed the last touch as the ball hit the back of the net leaving Cheshunt 3-0 up at 50 minutes.
Play remained in midfield with Cheshunt dominating the ball before Ryan Mattos took a shot that landed in the arms of St Albans’ goalkeeper, Nick Hardy.
After a solid performance throughout the second half David Hicks chipped the ball over the keeper resulting in another goal for Cheshunt now 4-0 up against City.
St Albans had two late attempts one of which was cleared by Cheshunt’s Mark Twumasi, the other into the hands of Obey Murefu.
Cheshunt rubbed the salt in St Albans’ wounds as Lee Brennan ran the pitch and skipped around St Albans’ keeper slotting home the fifth goal for The Ambers as the game finished Cheshunt 5-0 St Albans City.
