Gladiators half back Sam Broadbent has been named in the first ever North Wales Crusaders squad.

Sam will feature in the Crusaders match against Leigh East tonight.

He is currently on trial at the club and could follow in former Gladiators team mate Rob Massam footsteps by signing for the Co-operative Championship One side.

Sam, who also plays rugby union for Wirral, impressed Crusaders head coach Clive Griffiths at the club's second open trial.

Like Rob, Sam has been a key player for the Gladiators and was selected to represent England Lionhearts in 2011.

Chester Gladiators chairman Jim Green said: "Sam deserves and his chance and it would be great to see him earn a contract.

"To have two former Gladiators in the professional ranks would be fantastic for our club.

"It shows we are doing something right and again proves how many opportunities there are to progress in rugby league."

Chester Gladiators open age teams will return to training at the end of January.

New players are always welcome and more details are available by emailing info@chestergladiators.com or calling 07512 355396.
