Gladiators youngster Nathan Ainsworth has been named in the RFL's North West Regional Player Development Squad.

Nathan plays for the Gladiators under 14s and attends Whitby High School.

He was selected after impressing in the Warrington and Cheshire player development programs.

Nathan was one of six Warrington and Chester players chosen from a talent identification event after being nominated by the Warrington and Cheshire rugby league development manager Alan Kilshaw.

The players will train in two six week blocks and have playing opportunities against other regions.

Kilshaw said: "All the lads deserve special praise for getting selected.

"The lads have been in our systems for a number of years now and it is pleasing that they are showing the attributes and attitudes we are trying to teach them.

"I am sure they will represent Warrington and Cheshire in a very positive manner."

Chester Gladiators chairman Jim Green said: "We are very proud and delighted Nathan has been selected.

"It is fantastic for the club but more so for Nathan who has worked very hard and deserves this recognition."

Warrington Wolves player performance manager Ben Lazenby said: "With the right dedication, application and attitude I see no reason why these players can't progress on to bigger and better things in rugby league.

"A mention must go to the players' parents and community club coaches who work tirelessly to support these young people in achieving their goals."

The other players chosen were Jordan Thomason (Crosfields), Charlie Phythian (Latchford), George Moore (Latchford), Elliott Best (Rylands) and Reece Brunt (Latchford).
