The club was founded on 20th March 1969 when a meeting took place at Chew Valley School of former pupils who took the decision to form a Rugby Club to be known as Chew Valley Old Boys Rugby Football Club.
Matches were played on what are now the top pitches on the Chew Magna side of the school and both teams changed in what were the old changing rooms at the back of the main hall.
Gerwyn Thomas became the first Chairman, Club Captain Chris Small and Mr A Moore, the Headmaster of Chew Valley School, became the club's first President;without his help the facilities at the School would not have been available.
