Too many penalties at home to Old Richians
A red card for skipper Alex Cox on 34 minutes turns the game in favour of the visitors.
Chew Valley 22 - Old Richians 32
Chew Valley were left to rue a high penalty count including the red card to Skipper Alex Cox on 34 minutes for a high tackle on winger Laz Frazer who had picked off an interception to snuff out a home attack. The score at the time was 15 - 8 thanks to two tries from winger, Ben Whitemore, and a penalty and conversion from fly-half, Alex Cameron. Winger, Ross Wheeler, with a try and a penalty led to ten points scored for Richians. The gap was narrowed to two points with a try on the stroke of half time by Frazer, converted.
After the break it took a while for the advantage to tell and despite good work from Jake Rogers and Marc Daly in the back row, Richians benefitted from a series of penalties and tries from No 8, Tyler Malcolm, and centre, Joe Fijian, followed. When Rogers was sent to the bin following a series of penalties the floodgates should have opened but with Terry Fanoloa on and the bonus point secured Richians were content to control territory. A late try from scrum half, Ben Mead, sniping from the base of a dominant scrum converted by Cameron was a consolation at the death.
