An injury ravaged squad saw top of the table Chew only able to field 14 players at Hornets. Fortunately Hornets whose first team fixture had earlier in the day been cancelled loaned Chew a player to make up the numbers. Hornets scored early on to take the lead but Chew forced their way back into the game at 5 all with a try from Charles Shallcross after a quick tap penalty by Andy Taylor. Another try from Hornets and a penalty from Chew saw the score at 12-8 at the break. Second half saw a number of substitutions by Hornets and their previously dominant scrum wobbled under second-half pressure. Chew dominated line outs with another fine performance from 17 year old colt Rich Light. Hornets scored again to lead 17-8 but persistence by Chew brought them within 2 points after a try from veteran flanker Gav English. Two quick tries from Hornets effectively ended the game, Chew scored a consolation try, another for 17 year old Shallcross.. Chew stay top of the league on points scored, Man of the Match Will Keel for again deputizing at prop to ensure contested scrums.
