Chew valley U14's vs Clevedon

Chew Valley turned up today for a more exciting match against Clevedon. The boys played a close first half that saw them take the lead briefly, whilst holding back a barrage of intense attacking by Clevedon with some strong defending, leading to a break away try from Fin with a conversion by Tom there was a belief that we could bring a result home.
A late try by Clevedon at the end of the first half didn't seem to doubt this, but with two quick tries in the second half from a Clevedon substitute, who broke through with little resistance, and Chew were on the back foot again.
The boys fought back with sustained front row work that brought a try out of Angus and another conversion by Tom. Ultimately Chew played better today, but still lacked the conviction of their abilities from last season that saw them win against tough opposition, they were greatly improved in scrums and rucks, but lacked that vital spark. Hopefully another learning curve that we can put to good effect next week on the training ground.
