Chichester City travel to Binfield FC in the opening game of the 2017/2018 season for the Sussex based club. After losing to Arundel at this stage last season, Miles Rutherford wants to put things right and put Chichester City into the next round of this prestigious competition. Rutherford's side go into this game coming out of a mixed pre-season, having played lots of games, though losing the last three. Rutherford said "The results of pre-season don't bother me, the performance of the team and individuals does. We have used many players throughout pre-season and sometimes the balance of the team wasn't quire right. We are really pleased with the squad we have for the season and we will learn quickly from the mistakes we made during pre-season". Chi have added a number of additions to their first team squad and now look better equipped than ever to compete in every competition they will face this season.
City are without the suspended Jack Lee for the FA Cup fixture and the injured Ryan Peake, though they are delighted that they have every other player in the first team squad available. Rutherford said "It is a good headache for a manager when he has to work his squad out from a full set of players more or less. The lads trained well last night (Thursday) and I had to have a chat with a few of them about how I see them supporting the squad over the next few weeks. Some lads need to show a bit more when given the chance and a few others need to get a bit more match fitness before they are really competing for a place. Choosing players from a large squad is part of the game. I will get things right this year and also make some mistakes, though I hope we have got it right for tomorrow."
Chichester City welcome all the supporters who are looking to travel to Binfield on Saturday 5th August 2017 and Chi hope they can get the job done . Safe journey to everyone and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
