Chichester City Ladies & Girls FC are committed to providing an engaging, friendly and fun environment for the development of players of all ages.
In the Summer of 2017 the youth section saw an influx of new faces enough to expand into two teams, and thus the under-13 Green and Whites were born.
Here’s the thoughts of the u13s Whites manager Clayton Mumbles on the season so far:
Where did it begin?
Back in the summer my daughter of 12-years-old came to me and said ‘I want to join a football team’, I thought great but where do we go? I looked online and saw Chichester City Ladies FC, and girls youth teams.
We went along to a training session at the Chichester College where we were welcomed by Matt Wright, who at the time was the club chairman and now first team manager. Straight away we were made to feel part of the club.
It soon became apparent that the club was very progressive in terms of their aims for girls football. There was already an established team set up for the u13s age group, but due to their passion to push forward there was a surge in numbers. Enough to start a second team in the under 13s age group.
I was approached by Matt and asked whether I was interested in starting a second team in this age group, not a ‘b’ team, but a new team.
How could I refuse?
I saw the passion of the new faces and how much they wanted to just play football. At Chichester there is a place for them to learn, the club is well organised, with plenty of support by Matt, Emma Alexandre head coach for the youth team and ‘Caz’, Caroline Henry-Evans, the new club chairman and the lady to go to for everything, day or night always available to help.
This is where Chichester City Ladies & Girls u13s Whites began.
An incredible bunch of girls with a huge thirst to learn, to play football and to have fun – sometimes too much fun ha!. What a privilege to help teach this team.
Season so far
Our season so far has gone from strength to strength. I am so amazed by the support of parents to get these girls playing football. The girls turn up every week, rain or shine, and we are fast becoming a real family.
I cannot explain how lucky we are. I have never seen such a support for each other, we play football to win, but, they have shown me that no matter what happens they play for each other. I am so proud of these girls and what we will achieve with their incredible bond for each other.
With the help of Mark Middleton, the u13s Greens manager, Matt, Emma, Caz, and our amazing coach Poppy, we are really starting to go somewhere. Poppy has taken these girls under her wing and installed passion and desire to learn, from the first minute.
Our season so far has been a whirlwind, what an incredible start to a new team. Every game I know our girls will turn up to play for each other, support their team mates and give their all to our team, Chichester u13 Whites, our new family.
Sunday, 19th November, we played Uckfield Grasshoppers, what an amazing club they were, just like us they seem to be playing for each other, they love the game and the coaches are really passionate.
We came away with a hard fought 3-0 win, our first of the season which in terms of a result is great, however, girls football won on this day. Both teams cheered each other at the end of the game, led by Uckfileld. I am so pleased to be involved in such a great game of football, well done to both teams.
A huge thanks to Chichester City Ladies, they have given their time and expertise to provide an incredible platform for junior girls to play football who are thriving under their guidance. My youngest daughter has now joined the club, and we are so lucky to be part of it.
Contact the club if you are interested in playing football, they have given both my daughters a chance to be part of an amazing set up, and a place to love football.
