Facilities
Chippenham Rugby Club is recognised as one of the premier rugby teams in Dorset/Wiltshire. In keeping with its prowess on the field, it also has some of the best facilities for playing rugby and for social functions in the clubhouse.
The grounds extend to 22 acres with room for four full size rugby pitches plus a number of Minis pitches and training areas. Pitch 1 is situated immediately in front of the clubhouse with excellent viewing facilities either from within the clubhouse or from the tarmac area between the clubhouse and the pitch. Pitch two has full floodlight facilities for the playing of evening matches.
There is a large tarmac car park with space for 150 cars plus an overspill car park on the field next to the main car park for another 100 cars.
The facility was opened in 1992 and the clubhouse has a large clubroom, with bar and dance floor, which is licensed for 180 people, together with a raised viewing area which can be used as a stage for bands. We also have a lounge bar, which can accommodate approximately 40 people, and a skittle alley. A ramp is provided for disabled access and toilet facilities are adjacent to the main entrance.
The club currently has 6 changing rooms and a large communal shower area. Plans are already under way to increase this, adding a further four changing rooms and two smaller shower areas. This will make things much easier for all players and particularly the Girls and Ladies teams. The clubhouse is also in the middle of a major refurbishment programme, which includes redecoration and new lighting and, when funds permit, new furniture.
