Taken from Sheldon school website:
It is with much sadness that Sheldon School would like to inform you all of the passing of Mr Richard (Dick) John Bull who lost his courageous fight with prostate cancer just before Christmas. Dick was a devoted and loving husband to Jacqui and father to Paul, stepdad to Sian and Luke and grandpa to Hettie, Louie and Theo.
Dick was a career teacher and dedicated his working life to the young people of Chippenham. He began his career as a PE teacher at Chippenham Boys School in 1971 which then became Sheldon School. He set the highest of standards as Head of PE before continuing as a teacher of PE and senior member of staff responsible for developing the primary programme and organising the school public events. He loved his work at Sheldon and provided opportunities for thousands of young people in Chippenham and surrounding villages.
He introduced Outdoor pursuits to the Sheldon PE programme and also developed option choices, the Sheldon Ski visit and Sports Day. Many of the ideas and values that Dick developed underpin the work that the PE faculty do to this day and this will always be his legacy.
Dick was a keen rugby player for Devizes rugby club and also particularly enjoyed sailing buying a yacht when he retired and spending many happy times sailing with Jacqui.
