Bradford on Avon 5 Chippenham 40

by

Chippenham secure a fantastic win away to Bradford on Avon in the Witshire Cup third round.

A great performance from the whole squad with a hat trick from Dan Carter and a 5 out of 6 conversion success rate from Dan. Three other tries were scored and some great defensive play particularly in the first half holding BOA to a single try for the whole match. The second half of the match was mainly played in their half with BOA having to defend hard.

Some notable moves throughout the match with Matt Dunn's try saving tackle after 9 minutes of nervous defensive play. Great run by Henry and another try saving tackle from David Comport. A great run by Richard followed by the first try by Dan Carter and extremely well converted. A pitch side comment from rugby expert - "best kick of the season into the wind" - well done Dan!

BOA scored a try after 17 minutes when Chippenham boys missed a number of tackles; trading possession continued and the match was still anybodies! Nerves settled a bit when Henry replied quickly with a try, followed 10 minutes later by another try by Dan with another powerful run followed by him converting. Five minutes later another powerful run to chase a kick by Dan Carter with a quality bounce leading to Dans third try which he converted. Great try by James Johnson which was converted by Dan again. And the final score of the match was a try by Tom Tennant and converted again by Dan. The forwards worked hard winning the ball with Lewis Saliba being highlighted by Calvin for his work rate and Sean's decision making and work with Henry to counter their big number 8's picks from the back of the ruck.

Comments from Calvin after the match - "the whole squad played well, everybody played their part brilliantly and some new players performed great - there was no drop off in performance when new players were substituted and the team was brilliant especially considering some key players were missing". The coaching team were very impressed with all players and congratulate them for their commitment and determination.

BOA man of the match was Sean Johnson - well done Sean. Dan Carter was celebrated for his hat trick.

Well done boys!!
