On this very blustery day, the match of four quarters of 15 mins each had a delayed start of 12.25. All of the 23 Chippenham squad played well against a strong Keynsham side who until today had only been defeated twice this season. Our boys made some great tackles, defended well and kept the pressure up to achieve an excellent result.
Our result meant that all of the three matches for Chippenham Juniors taking place today at Allington Fields resulted in wins for the home side.
3 mins Sam Fieldhouse scored a try in the corner, following a scrum. Despite a strong kick by Dan Carter, it was not converted due to the blustery conditions.
7 mins A Keynsham player broke away and ran half the length of the pitch, to score between the posts and it was successfully converted.
Despite the first 10 minutes of the quarter with Keynsham camped in Chippenham’s 22, Chippenham defended well and kicked a penalty into touch in the oppositions half.
30 mins In the final play of the quarter, following a succession of penalties in our favour, Dan Carter took one quickly and scored a try in the corner, which was not converted.
31 mins Chippenham kicked off this quarter, but a Keynsham player soon got the ball and ran three quarters of the length of the pitch, to score between the posts and the try was converted
There was some scrappy play from both sides in the remainder of the quarter, but no further score.
There was a good period of possession from Chippenham in this quarter, most of the first 7 minutes being in Keynham’s 22.
53 mins Dan Carter broke away after a scrum, to score a try, which he converted.
Keynsham made some progress in the remainder of the quarter, but were not able to score.
