U13s Girls start with a Boom!

The U13s traveled to Chipping Sodbury for their 1st game of the season.

The girls were in good spirits. The game started well from the kick off with Sophie catching it and running straight back down the right wing to score Chippenham's 1st try. Chipping Sodbury came back with a good crash ball but Beanie did a try saving tackle and went over to secure the ball. Shortly after Lauren ran the length of the pitch to score a brilliant try. Chipping Sodbury were constantly hitting back and a team effort to push one of their players into touch. Lily is passed the ball from a ruck allowing a strong crash ball which gained Chippenham good ground. Zara manages to get her hands on the ball at pace and scoring a try. Chippenham carry on keeping the score board going with fantastic team tries. The 1st 10 minutes see's Chippenham up 0-5. Chippenham's team play is good throughout with Chipping Sodbury rotating their 9 players, our 6 just had to keep going.

The 2nd 10 minutes start and both teams playing well, with Maddison doing well taking the ball into the tackle. Zara then tackles the player which leads the opposition to a knock on and a good try by Sophie.

Not only is the running rugby from these girls wonderful to watch, their vision and heads up rugby is great. Again their aggression in the rucks and mauls is not for the faint hearted! Great support play at all times. Chipping Sodbury fought back but were met with smashing single and double up tackles stopping them in their tracks. Sophie's hard work paid off scoring a number of fantastic tries with powerful runs and ripping the ball away on a number of times in the tackle. Another 3 10 minute sessions with Chippenham firmly in charge and racking up a comfortable score. Sophie and Beanie leading with the tries followed by Zara and Lauren. The coaches and supporters wishing for Lily and Maddison's hard work and brilliant play to pay off too.
Just when we thought it was all over, they decided as we traveled all this way to play another 10 minutes, so a game of 5 parts. This time we got a Chipping Sodbury player to make it 7 a side. It must be said the Chipping Sodbury girls never lost heart and kept at it. Their hard work paid off and went over the try line for 2 well earned tries. Lily also got the ball to speed and score to the cheers of the crowd.

It was a great day by all and thank you to Chipping Sodbury for being a great host. Hope you manage to come to us in the future. Great start for our girls - 21 tries final score 10-105.
