Old Widdens Tournament Report

The Cheetahs travelled to Gloucester to the Old Widdens ground for the second annual tournament. The weather held for a fine day of rugby. The cheetahs fielded a senior and junior side.

The senior side first played Warwick Touch who defeated the cheetahs 2 – 0. The Warwick team played some excellent touch rugby which was fast and furious for the first Game of the morning.

The Old Widdens Ba ba’s were next with chippenham win 3-0. Both Matt Selman and Matt Leonard Breaking their scoring ducks at tournaments in this game. The third score game from a jinking run by Martin in the mid- field.

Coney Hill were the third opponents in the pool with the game be drawn 4-4. Chippenham were lucky in scoring 2 tries from penalties with the majority contact side of Coney hill been caught of side. The remaining two were both made by Steve Reagan with Martian and Matt Leonard finishing the score as Steve was dummy Half.

The final game was against Tewksbury with the cheetahs loosing 1-0 to a faster and much younger side. The Cheetahs red’s had an excellent tournament with some great team and individual skill been demonstrated by all the players.

Notable scores coming from both Sam’s, Will, and Aden with Jo Regan running the mid field as a pro. There was some heavy tackles made and all team members should be praised for showing true sportsmanship in the light of difficult opposition and refing.

We look forward to our next tournament that we attend.
