Chiefs come back strongly on the road
Not the most polished performance but still a fine collective effort in the end
On a cold and windy morning the Chiefs travelled to Bradford in confident mood. That confidence was soon dented with a home side intent on upsetting the form book. Bradford came with their A game, hitting tackles and short offloading with aplomb. The Chiefs scored first through Fin F, but were unusually slow to react, despite the hard work of Liam, Edgar and captain Ollie in the forwards. Bradford levelled and then took control with a number of tries through a collective effort in defence and attack. Some last ditch tackling by Harry Mc and Fin D kept the Chiefs in the game but poor defensive alignment allowed Bradford to go in 4-2 up with Fin F scoring another.
A half time pep talk from coach Kev got the Chiefs in a better frame of mindset. Starting the 2nd half with more aggression in the contact areas, gave some front foot ball to the Chiefs. With Ben C and Fin F orchestrating the attacks, Miles, Ollie and Liam were able to get us onto the front foot. Fin F scored down the wing and bagged another couple with usual maori side-steps, putting the Chiefs noses in front. After a strong couple of phases, some soft handling enabled Harry Mc to crash over for a well deserved try. This put the Chiefs in control and with the wider tackling improving rapidly BOA attacks were shut down by Fin F, Callum A and Harry Mc. Not a polished performance, but the character to come back by the whole squad, well done boys. Friday training and Stow at home next week in what will be a mouth watering contest.
