Wow, what an exciting Easter for the Mighty Under 8s!

A number of the Mighty Under 8s attended the Olly Barkley Elektrik 3 Rugby Academy held at Chippenham RFC over the Easter holidays. Not only was this the first time that this event had been held at Chippenham but also the first time that the academy had been open to this age group. All of the boys who attended had a great time and enjoyed learning about many aspects of the game. In the afternoon they were treated to an extra special game of ‘Dragons Eggs’, with not only Olly, but also his Bath team mate and ex-England skipper Lewis Moody. A big thank you from the Under 8s goes to Olly and his team for such a fantastic fun day.

On Good Friday the mini-section welcomed a touring party from Saracens to Allington Fields. The visitors proved to be tough opposition and the Mighty Under 8s suffered one of their heaviest defeats to date - of the six games played Chippenham lost four, won one and drew one.

Scores
Chippenham 5 -3 Saracens
Chippenham 4 – 4 Saracens
Chippenham 4 - 6 Saracens
Chippenham 3 – 4 Saracens
Chippenham 2 - 5 Saracens

On Easter Sunday a number of the boys travelled to Saracens to take part in an exhibition match during the Heniken Cup Quarter Finals. This fantastic opportunity to mark the end of their final season of ‘Tag’ saw the boys walk out onto the pitch at Vicarage Road in front of a crowd of 11,000 to play Dover. After a great exhibition match the players from both teams formed a guard of honour to welcome Saracens and Clermont Auvergne back on to the field. The boys had a fantastic day and I am sure they will have come away with very special long lasting memories. A great big thank you goes to coach Tim for organising this for the boys. (and please do check out Dave R’s super photos of the day on the website!)

A number of the Mighty Under 8s concluded their Easter 'eggstravaganza' by taking part in the mass mini-section guard of honour at Chippenham’s last home match of the season. The boys were fortunate to witness an emphatic victory for the first XV, Jimmer included, over Bridgewater.
