Sir William Romney (SWR) School
68 Lowfield Road
All training sessions for the Mini’s are held at Sir William Romney School (SWR). Parking is available at SWR next to the Sports Centre which is accessed at the end of Lowfield Road, Tetbury with overflow parking on busy match days available at Tesco’s which is just a short walk away from the school.
Tetbury RFC is working closely with Sir William Romney School and Gloucestershire Constabulary to combat the issue of parking within the vicinity of the school on busy match days, such that we can provide a safe environment for the local residents and players alike. At Tetbury RFC we are extremely proud of our links to the local community and the support which they provide and we would like the good relationship and reputation we have built over many years to continue. The school is very supportive of our rugby club and without their continued support we would not be able to consistently offer club rugby to over 200 children each week – it would be a tragic shame if use of the playing facilities was withdrawn as a result of something as easily fixed as inconsiderate parking.
As members of the rugby community EVERYONE has a duty to ensure that we park our vehicles in a safe and legal manner and there have been several incidents recently brought to the attention of the club which have placed both players and members of the public safety in jeopardy. When parking your vehicle please ask yourself whether an emergency vehicle could easily pass without hindrance in order to reach an injured player or a local resident in need of urgent assistance – if the answer is no then please find an alternative place to park.
Additionally we have an agreement with Tesco that their car park may be used free of charge for the parking of vehicles attending rugby. The walk from the Tesco car park to the school is less than 10 minutes and the route is shown in blue dotted lines – please consider this as a safe alternative to parking in the streets around the school.
The Police have recently increased patrols in the local area on match days due to complaints from the residents and have issued a number of warning notices to vehicles which are parked without consideration to the access and safety of others. These patrols will continue and the driver of any vehicle parked in contravention of legislation relating to the parking of vehicles on roads and footpaths which includes grass verges may be subject to receiving a fixed penalty notice in relation to the offence being committed.
