A Swindon Town side containing a smattering of the first team squad, with the remaining first team players looking on from the stands, went down to a goal in each half from the Bluebirds.
Chippenham were the first to show in the first minute when Kiernan Parselle’s ball into the box was not dealt with cleanly by keeper Will Henry and Matt Smith was just unable to take advantage.
The Bluebirds opened the scoring in the sixth minute when a long ball found Jack Compton on the right and his cross to the far post was headed home by Nick McCootie.
Two minutes later a free kick routine saw Jordan Young’s fierce drive, from thirty five yards, slam against a Chippenham post.
As the visitors continued to attack new Swindon signing Jack McCourt’s shot from distance was held by Will Puddy. Scott Twine, who was on loan with the Bluebirds last season, then saw his free kick hit the side netting.
Before the break Sol Pryce’s flick on found Twine but his shot was too high. After the interval Josh Smile’s shot was blocked whilst at the other end James Dunn shot wide.
A swift Swindon break on fifty six minutes ended with Jordan Edwards shot hitting a post.
At the other end James Guthrie’s low cross saw Henry smother Nat Jarvis’s close range effort.
Just after the hour mark Jarvis flicked on a Compton corner and Dean Evans’s volley was superbly saved by Henry.
Edwards saw another effort blocked before Chippenham doubled their lead twelve minutes from time when a slick passing move ended with Evans’s cross cum shot nestling into the top corner of Henry’s net.
Before the end Jarvis shot into the side netting, Swindon’s Elliot Duggan fired over the bar from a good position and Guthrie’s cross was headed wide by Andy Sandell.
