The Bluebirds accounted for another of National South’s fancied side’s when they lowered third placed Wealdstone’s colours in an enthralling game at Hardenhuish Park.
Former Bluebird striker failed to make the most of two early chances whilst at the other end Nat Jarvis lifted his shot over the bar.
On eleven minutes George Rigg’s ball into the box saw Will Richards force a corner and from Jack Compton’s twelfth minute flag kick the Bluebirds scored an early goal for the second week running as Kieran Parselle drilled after the Stones’ defence failed to clear.
Pratt then saw a shot easily held by Brad House whilst Karnell Chambers met a deep cross but his effort hit keeper Jonathan North.
Another Bluebird corner saw Parselle’s shot blocked whilst a long throw from Wealdstone’s Joe Payne saw Rigg’s unintended back header saved by House.
On twenty three minutes Bradley Bubb’s low shot from an angle was well-saved at the near post by House.
On the half hour Daniel Green’s ball to Bubb saw his shot go across the face of goal and just wide.
Similarly eight minutes later at the other end Chambers’s cross flashed across the goalmouth just beyond the reach of Jarvis.
A minute before the interval North dropped a Compton free kick and the ball found its way to Jarvis who netted but the effort was disallowed for offside.
After the break Curtis McDonald headed a Compton free kick into the arms of North.
Chippenham then lost McDonald to injury whilst Wealdstone stepped up the pressure with three attacking substitutions.
One of those replacements, Elliott Charles should have equalised when his headed effort was blocked on the line by Callum Gunner and Charles blazed the rebound from close in over the bar. Jarvis’s headed effort from substitute Mike Jones’s cross then lacked the power to beat North whilst Charles was again profligate as he shot over from a central position inside the area.
On eighty one minutes Josh Smile broke from his own half before being fouled in the area by Jeffrey Monakana.
Smile became the third different Chippenham player to take a penalty this season, the previous two missing, and it proved third time lucky as he rifled a low shot past North.
The lively Charles finally found the net four minutes from time after good work by fellow substitute Fumnaya Solomon.
As Wealdstone committed players forward at a ninety second minute free kick Chambers raced from inside his own half to slide the ball past North.
The Bluebirds might have hit another two minutes later as Chambers again broke away before slipping a pass to Smile but he rolled his shot wide.
