This A4 Classico derby played out in front of 1455 spectators ended honours even after the Bluebirds took a two goal lead in the opening twenty minutes.
Bath pulled a goal back before the break before being reduced to ten men with twenty minutes to go but still managed to score an equaliser a quarter of an hour from time.
The first chance fell to Bath’s Tom Smith whose side-footed shot was saved by Brad House, who then confidently claimed an inswinging corner.
A tenth minute Chippenham corner from Josh Smile fell to Kieran Parselle beyond the far post but his cross went over everyone and out for a throw.
On the quarter of an hour mark James Guthrie and Tariq Ossai, a Christmas Eve signing from Crystal Palace, combined to present Nick McCootie with a chance but he skied over from inside the six yard box.
The former Bath striker made amends a minute later as he drove into the area before thumping a low shot past Ryan Clarke.
Four minutes later McCootie stormed into the Bath area and although his effort was rolling towards goal James Guthrie slid the ball home from two yard out. Former Bluebird, Ross Stearn pulled a goal back just before the half hour with a fine strike from inside the area.
The same player then saw his shot from distance pushed behind by House.
Before the break Nat Jarvis, another former City player, saw his shot lack the necessary power to beat Clarke, whilst at the other end Adam Mann’s corner was flicked goalwards by Frankie Artus but saved by House.
On fifty four minutes Rhys Davies’s free kick was headed over the Bath bar by Will Richards. Eleven minutes later a Bath corner saw Artus’s effort go just wide.
Midway through the half Chippenham substitute Karnell Chambers flashed a shot across the face of goal.
On seventy three minutes Bath had skipper Anthony Straker sent off for his second yellow card.
Two minutes later Bath equalised when Stearn fed Mann and his cross was turned in by Ryan Brunt.
Six minutes from time Kieran Parselle brought down Michee Efete on the edge of the area but Mann hit the free kick over the Chippenham bar.
In the ninetieth minute Efete’s close range effort was scrambled away by House whilst in the third minute of stoppage time former Bath player Jack Compton, who had come on as a seventy ninth minute substitute fired over the bar.
