Chipping Sodbury Rugby Football Club was founded in 1949 by a group of gentlemen drinking in a local Hotel. sixty one years have passed since the days of meeting in the back room of a hotel, and now the club boasts four playing pitches, one training pitch, floodlit training, and a comfortable clubhouse with extensive changing facilities.
Now in the third year of his chairmanship Martyn Lansdown finds himself supported by 1st XV team captain Phil Player now in his second year, New 2nd XV team captain James Bennet, Wanderers captain Tony Jones, ladies captain yas, new club coaches, head coach gary beer fitness coach graham clark also an infrastructure with in the club to push this year both on and off the pitch and carry on making big changes.
We run 3 men’s teams, a ladies team and a thriving youth section with over three hundred attending, within this is a newly developed young ladies group, aged 12 to 18. All our rugby is played at the Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club, The Ridings, Wickwar Rd, and range in ability. Our aim is to promote a high standard of rugby and, although very well established locally, become an integral part of the local area and businesses alike.
