10s Get The Win!!!
Panthers Under 10's recorded their first win of the season at Southlands.
With a reduced number of players (the boys must have been busy looking after their Mums!!) it mean't only 1 substitute was available so the prospect of much longer game time was always going to test their fitness but Panthers responded well to the challenge
The game began strongly and Panthers put together some great passages of play. Joe Hacket opened the scoring with his usual stong running, this was followed by a long distance effort from Thomas Williams. Matthew Duckworth, who was putting himself around the pitch brilliantly put the icing on an impressive first half performance with a great try. One area for improvement needed from the last 2 games was our goal kicking so it was great to see Panthers converted all 3 goals to take a well deserved 18-0 half time lead.
St Cuthbert's came out for the second half fired up and took the game to Panthers, the team had been asked to stand up in defends and this was put to the test in the second half; the goal line defence was much improved and the effort in the tackle forced numerous mistakes. The pressure from St Cuthbert's was rewarded with 1 try but Panther's held out for a confidence boosting first victory of the season.
