Positive response to test of strength
Panthers under 10's recorded their 3rd win on the run against New Springs at a sunny Southlands, the coaches made a number of changes to test the depth of the squad and the players responded well with some strong enthusiastic running to take an early lead. Joe Locke went in from a great move near the tryline then Finlay McCarthy gained just reward for some strong running with a try.New Springs came to life and came back at Panthers but further tries from Charlie Mitchinson followed by a try just on half time from Thomas Williams stretched the lead to 22-10.
The strength of the forwards laid the foundation for a dominant second half running in a further 5 tries, Tom Greenhalgh went in first followed by Joe Hackett. Panthers started to play some free flowing rugby and a move from the scrum saw the ball move through the hands for Howard Hackett to finish off in style. New Springs had no answer to the strong running that resulted in further tries for Eric Buckley and a second for Joe Hackett but their heads didn't go down and they finished with 3 further tries to give them encouragement for the future.
The final score was Panthers 52 New Springs 24; Panthers certainly know the way to the try line but the focus will now be building a defence to match
