NWC U13s Development Cup Final Update
NWC Development Cup Finals will now take place on Saturday 22nd September 2012, 11am kickoff for U13s at Golborne ARLFC.
Following a meeting of coaches and club secretaries earlier this evening at Golborne the NWC finals have now been rescheduled, the Development Cup being played on Saturday 22nd September at Golborne with kickoff times of 11am (13s), 1pm (14s) ans 3pm (15s) (the main cup finals will be held the weekend before on Saturday 15th September (same respective kickoff times)). This is a far better date than originally suggested for the start of September but availability of other dates was limited due to the Lancashire Cup, which will be beginning in the Autumn too.
Last weekend was discussed and the committee made time to explain fully the rationale behind the cancellation. The decision was made on the Monday, when a combination of the pitch conditions and the forecast led to a groundsman and referee inspection where it was decided the pitch would not hold up to six matches over the weekend period and for health and safety reasons the finals were called off. All programmes and other media were due to go to print on the Monday morning so a decision had to be made there and then rather than gambling and delaying the decision until later in the week.
The location of the finals was not negotiable, having been held at Golborne for the last 12+ years and with it being the NWC 13-15s HQ, but the pitch problems were a key factor in deciding to split the cup days onto two separate weekends in September.
Any players not available for the 22nd September need to advise Frank or I well in advance of that date please. Full details will go up nearer the time when available.
