Sunday saw the arrival of a very strong and well organised Halton Farnworth Hornets to Panther Park, for a game which taught the young Panthers about the importance of holding their position on the pitch.

The match started well, Halton scored on the first set and Chorley responded in the same manner with Adam Kirby (Player of the Match) powering over the line to level the score at one try each, at this point it looked like it was going to be a close game. However the Hornets had other ideas and outplayed the Panthers with good attacking runs, looping wide of the Panthers line and backing this up with strong defence; setting themselves quickly and getting on top of the Chorley attackers, keeping them pinned down in their own half and gaining the advantage for their attacking sets. As a result the remaining tries were all scored by Halton who managed to add another 9 tries to their first score.

Under the Hornets barrage, the young Panthers still showed some good play, putting in some solid tackles, Charlie MacDonald (Top Tackler) and Adam Kirby in particular having high tackle counts today. It was also good to see that all the team were looking to offload the ball where they could to try and keep the play going, Nathan Hilton who earned Best Effort showed further improvement today with a couple of runs forward to make ground and looked for the offload when he was tackled.
