Cinderford Town FC 1 V Horndean FC 2
By Paul Webb
Cinderford’s hopes of a profitable FA Cup run faltered as they crashed out at the hands of Wessex League Horndean at the Causeway. Town were caught cold as early as the third minute when a Stockford corner was headed home by Nathan Kirby. Lloyd could and should have equalised soon afterwards but he delayed his shot and the defence was able to clear the danger. Haile also had an opportunity from a corner but couldn’t get a clean shot away.
Thomas produced a superb run before feeding Donaghue who blazed his effort over the bar. Horndean were content to defend in depth, soaking up Town’s attacks before breaking in numbers

The introduction of Preen for Haile saw Cinderford looking sharper and the diminutive striker skilfully worked an opening before forcing a fine save from Beezley. Paxford tested Harris on several occasions before on 70 minutes Austin shrugged off his marker, turned smartly and fired past Harris.
Donaghue was unlucky as his curling free kick narrowly cleared the bar. However on 89 minutes Morgan gave Town hope when he nodded in a corner. Indeed Cinderford could have grabbed a replay in injury time but new striker Ethan Moore dragged the chance wide.
