Former Cinderford keeper Matt Bath produced a superb display including twice saving Lee Smith penalties as Cirencester took the points in this keenly contested local derby. O’Sullivan’s vision saw him create an early chance for Dean Lee whose shot was well saved. Mortimer – Jones then struck the Cinderford bar before O’ Sullivan again worked an opening but Wilson’s drive was blocked. Bater sent a shot wide as Cinderford pressed and they were awarded a penalty as Lee Smith was brought down but Bath confidently saved the spot kick. Two minutes later a foul by Harrison on Bennett saw the referee point to the spot and another Cinderford old boy Scott Griffin calmly converted the penalty. Collier then brought a good save from John in the closing minutes of the half.

Dean Lee rattled the Cirencester crossbar then from his corner Greg Lewis saw his first attempt blocked but was able to force in the rebound. Cirencester responded with a Griffin header well tipped over by John, before they regained their lead on 55 minutes. Griffin evaded his marker skilfully, got to the by line and a well directed cross was emphatically converted by Shepherd. Cinderford were awarded their second penalty of the night but once again Matt Bath denied Lee Smith. Bath then produced a fine save to foil the suffering Smith while a follow up effort again struck the upright. With time running out Sysum endeavouring to seal the three points drew a superb stop by John. Cinderford’s last chance fell to Evans but the ever alert Bath kept out the midfielder’s hopeful strike.
