CINDERFORD TOWN 3 LYDNEY TOWN 0
Cinderford continued their pre season build up with a comfortable victory over their Hellenic league opponents. Following a minute’s silence for Town stalwart Alan Drew, the game got underway with Cinderford fielding trialists Scott Wilson, Niall Halford and Jack Lewis. A scrappy opening period ensued before Cinderford took the lead on 15 minutes courtesy of a coolly taken penalty by Lee Smith.
Smith and Wilson then combined well to create an opening for Matt Smith but he screwed his shot wide. Dean Lee then showed pace to elude the visitors defence but unfortunately failed to hit the target. Lydney’s best period of the half saw Jack Smith produce a timely block to divert Liddington’s shot for a corner and Ben John hold a Price free kick. As half time approached Camm neatly dis possessed a defender but his shot rippled the side netting.

Dan Harrison replaced the injured Halford early in the second half then Archer made tracks for the Lydney goal but his effort cleared the upright. On 57 minutes Lee Smith doubled Town’s lead with a smart break and impressive finish. A minute later the striker was denied his hat trick by the cross bar but Wilson was on hand to net the rebound. Craig Tait, Dale Evans, Geraint Bater, Greg Lewis, Andy Lewis and another trialist Ollie Beckett all got a run out as Steve Peters rang the changes.
Lee Smith effortlessly shrugged off his marker but was un able to convert the chance and Bater also worked a good opening but failed to score. Lydney offered little in attack but ex Town midfielder Jamie Addis impressed with a cultured and skilful display finding space for himself and invariably distributing possession well. Town will face a tougher test on Saturday against Romulus but the trialists did well especially Halford, and Smith looked sharp and impressive in front of goal.
