Brough returns to the Causeway

This Saturday we are back in action at the Causeway as we welcome former manager John Brough's North Leigh side to Cinderford. North Leigh currently sit in 14th place in the league, just 3 points ahead of us having played a game more. They will be boosted by their new signing, former Town midfielder Lorcan Sheehan, who was instrumental in our promotion winning campaign in 2015/16.

North Leigh's recent results haven't been great, going down 2-1 to Winchester in midweek infront of a crowd of just 52 and losing 5-0 away to Larkhall last Saturday, so they will be keen to get a result at the Causeway and with former Cinderford players Lorcan Sheehan, Elliot Kightley and Ryan Paddock in the side they will certainly be up for the match.

In teams news, it looks like Declan Morley-Lyne will be returning to the first team squad this Saturday to give the side a welcomed boost, however striker partner Lewis Bamford misses out following his car accident earlier in the week. In transfer news, Nick Humphreys has returned to Shortwood this week looking for more regular first team football. We are currently awaiting international clearance for Merthyr midfielder Benjamin Watkins who has agreed to join the club, we are hoping that may come through this week and be available for selection Saturday.

Paul had the following to say about the recent results and performances in this weeks programme notes...

"This season continues to be mixed and I have such mixed emotions about the last 4 games in which we have drawn 4. Stats can be made to paint any picture that you choose but the reality is we are very disappointed with the 4 point return despite playing Salisbury and Bideford in that run. We feel that the balance of play in every one of those 4 games has favoured us and if we look closer at the number of final third entries & chances created then we can’t get carried away or too disappointed with the results, we must believe in what we are doing and that results will soon follow. "

This weeks match programme will be online only and available to download from tomorrow. In a first for the club, we will also be displaying QR codes around the site from Saturday meaning that you can scan the codes and view the matchday programme on your phone for free.

The game kicks off at 15:00 as usual so please get yourselves along to support and make some noise.

Up The Town!
