Cinderford’s improved second half showing saw them recover to share the points with Wimbourne Town this afternoon. A sweetly timed pass by Preen released Lloyd but his strike brushed the side netting. From a Webb corner Stokoe headed on but Gamble missed a wonderful opportunity, then Archer twice cleared efforts off the line with Harris beaten. Another Webb corner on 29 minutes saw Gamble apply the decisive touch despite the efforts of Thomas who hooked clear only for the linesman to award a goal. Webb twice more set up chances for Gamble but he failed to strike it lucky. As half time approached a superb Evans cross was met by Lewis who couldn’t direct his header into the net.

The half time introduction of Dave Bird along with Jordi Sheen saw Town improve as the match went on. Bird and Evans got to grips with the Wimbourne midfield while Thomas got forward at every opportunity and Harrison marshalled the defence. Veal and Bird both missed chances before on 77 minutes Town got the equaliser their second half performance deserved. Evans embarked on a typically barn storming run into the area which was halted only by a challenge lacking subtlety and any sense of timing. Lewis then stepped forward to calmly stroke the resultant penalty past Harvell. Bird then saw a goal bound shot blocked and following a late substitute appearance by Sheen’s Under 18’s team mate Matt Grindle, Preen was inches away from conjuring up a winner.
