Two excellent strikes from George Lloyd saw caretaker manager Matt Smith’s side overcome a rugged, durable Bridgwater team with a spirited display last night. Lloyd brought the first save of the night from Alexander then the all action Kieron Thomas linked well with Andy Lewis whose shot was inches wide. Rendall briefly a Cinderford player tested Harris with a cross shot but chances were at a premium despite plenty of endeavour and some decent passing football. Lloyd mis kicked in front of goal after an energetic run by Thomas then the same two players combined again with the latter unfortunately firing wide. Half time however arrived with a blank score sheet and more quality in the final third needed.

Rendall’s dangerous cross was blocked by Harris then a storming run by Thomas set up Evans whose effort was saved. Alexander dealt confidently with an Evans free kick before Lloyd put Cinderford deservedly ahead on 65 minutes skilfully turning his marker before lashing his shot past Alexander. Rendall’s strike looked goal bound until Archer’s timely clearance while superb skill from Lloyd set up Evans who missed the target. Tumulty’s free kick flashed past the post before Cinderford wrapped up the game on 84 minutes. Andy Lewis beating the offside trap got to the by line and cantered for the assured Lloyd to finish with aplomb. With the experienced defensive duo of Archer and Greg Lewis marshalling the backline, Cinderford comfortably played out the remaining few minutes of the game to claim the points.
