Ladies 2's faced New forest away finally!!

8 months ago By Gemma English

Ladies 2's finally played at New forest and saw their first green card of the season 2017/2018.

Ladies 2’s finally played new forest away and the pitch was in a much better condition than last time. We went away with bare 11 players this week with no subs. Lucy who was going to be our goalie could not play due to back injury. Therefore Lilith had to step up and go In goal instead of playing outfield. Our back line up was Sam, Stewie, Emma; we only had 3 official defenders this week as Lilith step up to go in goal for us. Our Midfield look like this, Danni on left wing with Andrea on the right, Laura c play more defensive this week holding herself back acting as pivot and play very well. Myself and Lizzie play in centre midfield, with our regulars Michelle and Jemma upfront. City was ready to go, city look solid and was the strongest team compare to new forest, we was on our players and keeping it very tight. City work the ball well together as team and we got the ball to Michelle saw jemma was in loads of space and un mark pass the ball and Jemma put it in the back of the net. City was 1-0 up. City had to stay focus and to try and keep possession of the ball. The umpires were not very they were very much one sided, New forest were pushy team and very aggressive. City did not drop to their level we stay focus and calm. After few minutes of scoring our first goal and with some excellent play as team The captain (Tinks) received the ball from the centre and drove the ball on the end of the hockey stick all the way down the new forest end using very good skills to keep the ball and not losing it drove it to the goal saw Michelle and she put it in the back of the net, very good skill from the captain as well as the team getting the ball to her. Tinks set Michelle up again. City was now 2-0 up. City had to stay strong as New forest had some very good set play working the ball well as team City did not have easy ride. City had got the ball back up new forest end Michelle went in for another shot but the goalie was actually very good The captain Tink’s happen to be in the right place pick up the ball and with cracking shot into goal the goalie had save it city could have been 3-0 up New forest goalie was not given up trying to keep their team in the game. Half time whistle went and we was 2-0 up, City had team chat about the first half, City was strong and kept it solid at the back protecting our goal, we knew we had to carry on keeping it tight and not to let new forest in. Second half had started New forest came back and starting work the ball well as team city had to be on them as we could not afford to let them have the ball or possession. New forest came back and managed to get the ball in the back of the net getting one pass Lilith our goalie. The score was 2-1. City saw their first green card, due the umpires being new forest side they were very much one sided. The captain happen to received a green card for some tackles which the umpire did not like. The captain at this point was having two minutes sin bin and city was down to 10 players, with few changes Jemma had to drop herself in midfield leaving Michelle up front on her own. New forest had advantage as they had 11 and city only had 10 even though it was only two minutes anything could of change, City kept it solid and continues to fight as team. The captain was back on so Jemma push herself back up front with Michelle. City team efforts were brilliant everyone tracking back as soon as New forest broke us and we lost the possession of the ball. We knew we had to protect our goal the score line was very close it could have gone as draw but city kept on fighting and was not giving up. The final score was 2-1 another win on the cards.
Great team effort everyone is improving so much compared to last season. Let’s continue our winning ways, City are now back in second spot of the league table and only 4 games left of this season, City face Alton next Saturday. Come on let’s do this for the love of Cop and up the Pink Army. Please continue to come to training as everything we are working on as team is showing on Saturday.
