Table toppers too strong for City
City were unable to bounce back from last week's defeat as a depleted team went down 3-0 at home to Gillingham.
City were keen to put in a strong performance after throwing away a two goal lead last week, but faced an up hill task with five first team regulars missing.
City started well and some slick interchanging created a couple of openings and half chances without really testing the visiting keeper. Gillingham soon found their feet and took the lead and City's game suddenly fell apart. Two further goals made it 3-0 with ten minutes of the first half still to play. City then had Ivan Boswell, Rob Boswell and Seb Martin all sent off for yellow card offences leaving eight men to hold on until half time.
Coach Chris Wimshurst had some strong words with the team during the break and the second half performance was a vast improvement. City had the better of the play but again failed to test the Gillingham keeper.
