City end season on a high
City of Portsmouth finished the season on a high with a comfortable 6-2 win against Weymouth.
City made a fantastic start and could have taken the lead within 10 seconds, Stuart Avery bursting forward straight from the start and the ball found its way to an unmarked Luke Parsons who failed to get a good connection on his shot.
However, it wasn't long before City went in front, Avery scoring his 12th league goal of the season.
Avery then turned provider, setting up George Podd for a neat finish.
City continued to dominate the first half and effectively killed the game off with two further goals, both scored by Daniel Brettell. The first was from a short corner routine and the second an instinctive deflection that flew into the roof on the net.
City were cruising but took their foot off the gas in the second half, and were twice punished for some sloppy play which gave Weymouth hope of an unlikely comeback.
But City regrouped and Sam Murray made it 5-2 before Rob Boswell sealed the win with a last minute goal.
