City knew it would be a tough match, with Alton only having dropped two points all season, and with several players unavailable this week, the visitors team contained several unfamiliar faces, thanks to some late student recruitment on Thursday night.
Alton started well, and City soon found themselves trailing by two goals. City got back into the game with a low short corner flick from Martin King finding the Alton backboard, however the hosts regrouped and City found themselves trailing 4-1 at halftime.
City had no further answers in the second half, and despite a few good chances and short corners, the visitors were unable to add to their tally. Alton had no such problems and added a further six goals in the second half to themselves to double figures and a commanding 10-1 victory.
