City 2s sunk in Poole
City 2's travelled to 2nd in the league Poole looking to build on last weeks nail biter, but unfortunately came out on the wrong end of a 7-1 scoreline.
City had an uncertain start due to having key players missing, which saw the home team pinch an early goal. Whilst players filling in in unusual positions were adjusting, attacking duties were slightly neglected inviting plenty of pressure. By half time City were 3-0 down, but not out of the game.
A half time team talk based around playing smarter and marking more tightly saw City prove more of a threat in the 2nd half, but ultimately the gap in the league table showed. A consolation goal by stand in left back Will Brown following a flowing move down the right was a particular highlight, as was seeing youngster and man of the match Peter Wright beat his marker three times, whilst his teammates on the sidelines pointed out each mistake!
Sadly a late own goal from Bryan Hodges, who in attempting to help out a scrambling city GK lifted the ball despairingly over and into the net, made the final score 7-1.
Captain Alan Ball was keen to put this game behind him, and looked forward to a big game next week: "Next week sees another away trip to fellow strugglers Yateley, where three points will go a long way to potentially deciding who gets relegated."
