City 2s steal late win over local rivals
City of Portsmouth 2's picked up a 3-2 win away to local rivals Portsmouth & Southsea to finish the season on a high.
City dominated the first half, and their pressure paid off as they went into half-time 1-0 up thanks to a Jim Clarke finish.
Despite starting the second half half well, City failed to convert the pressure into goals, and after a Clarke shot rattled the post, they soon found themselves 2-1 down after taking their foot off the gas.
Portsmouth & Southsea were frustrated as they hit the cross bar, and also had a couple of goals disallowed for infringements in the build up play. On another day they could probably have put the game beyond City's reach.
The visitors however battled on, with Clarke converting again to equalise, before City sealed the win with a powerful short corner strike from Alex Williams in the last minute to upset the hosts.
Man of the match David Johns said after the game: "I'm really proud of how we have performed this season. Picking up 15 points since Christmas is a great sign for next year, whichever division we end up in."
