Flames extinguish Stars in game of two halves
City of Portsmouth Stars started brightly, but were unable to hold onto their lead as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Yateley Flames.
City opened the scoring early through James Payne to put themselves 1-0 up. City were in control and dominated Yateley throughout the first half, but were unable to capitalise on the chances created. The Stars could easily have put the game beyond doubt by half-time, but went into the break with a solitary goal to their name.
After the break, Yateley came out of the blocks flying, and the hosts created a quick goal at the start of the 2nd half to level the scores. The Yateley pressure continued to mount, and City defender Clive Parsons suffered a hit to the back of his head after a short corner shot bounced up at him.
The home side didn't let up, and managed to score two more goals in the second half to condemn the Stars to a 3-1 defeat.
