Nick Alway reports:

CS Rugby 1863 26 Harrow 6

CS shrugged off their previous week’s disappointment to register a satisfying first win in their London 1 North campaign at Duke’s Meadows on Saturday. Although their 4 try bonus point win was comfortable enough Harrow, newly promoted to this level, remained competitive throughout and - had they shown a little more composure with the ball - might have made life even more difficult for the home side.

An early try from Josh Forrester followed by sustained CS pressure suggested that this was not necessarily going to be the most testing of afternoons for them in the bright and breezy conditions. Harrow responded well, however, and although CS remained in the ascendancy the only other first half scores were a try from a characteristic Ant Lavea, CS scrum-half's scampering break , converted again by Tom Hodgson, and two penalties to the visitors from field positions that they had done some good preparatory work to secure.

The decisive moment in the game perhaps came not long into the second half. CS, who had won the toss and yet unusually spurned the opportunity of playing towards the tennis courts and with the breeze in the second half, intercepted an attempted cut-out pass on their own twenty-two which allowed full-back James Houstoun to show he still has pace enough to go the distance and score.

The bonus point try followed, courtesy of prop Darragh Kelly who had an excellent game all round, with fully twenty minutes to go but Harrow refused to lie down and with both defences solid there were to be no further additions to the score.

CS scorers:

Tries:
Forrester
Lavea
Houstoun
Kelly

Cons:
Duffy (3)
