Clanfield look to bounce back but face tough away trip

Clanfield make the journey to Tuffley Rovers hoping to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Purton last week.

Last week's loss was the Robins' first since losing to Lydney, on the opening day of the season, and will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Clanfield's opponents have started the season strongly and sit in second place after three wins, one draw and one defeat in their five games so far.

The Robins will be able to welcome back a handful of players that missed last week's 2-0 defeat. Benji Williams, Adam Smith, Adam Pendle and James Fleming are all included in the squad and vying for starting positions.

New signing Jamie MacDonough will also be hoping to make his first start after making his debut last week as a substitute.

However, goalkeeper Mike Hedges and defender Kyle Moulden, who both played 90 minutes against Purton, are unavailable. Former Clanfield 'keeper Chris Brain will fill the void left by Hedges. Also, away is striker Mike Solan who came close to scoring his first goal for the Robins last week with a header that bounced off the inside of the post.

Included in the squad are youth players Charlie McPherson and Henry Macke. Macke made his debut last week coming on as a late substitute.

New signing Simon Oakley, who appeared for RAF Brize Norton in last weeks midweek friendly, is away but will be hoping to make his debut next week against Tytherington Rocks.

Hopefully Clanfield can respond to last week's disappointment and come away from a tough away trip with all three points.
