Match Preview: Clanfield Vs. Shortwood United

Clanfield welcome Shortwood to Radcot Road on Saturday hoping for revenge after defeat to the same opposition two weeks ago.

Shortwood recorded a 3-2 victory over the Robins a fortnight ago with the winner coming in the final minute.

The win represented only Shortwood's second of the season but they followed that up with a 2-1 victory away to Tuffley Rovers last week.

Clanfield have lost captain Steve Olphert since the last time these sides met after he moved to Shrivenham. New club captain Adam Pendle will lead the side out.

That leaves two spaces in midfield which Mark Norridge, James Fleming, Matt Cheetham and Jack Ellis will be fighting for.

Simon Oakley is nearing his return from an ankle injury after under going a fitness test in midweek but Saturday's match may come too soon for him.

Jamie MacDonogh also completed a fitness test on Tuesday but remains a doubt for this weekend's encounter.

Rob Hoskin, who went off injured against Shortwood two weeks ago, should be fit enough to play.

A win for Clanfield could see them rise from 8th up to 6th leapfrogging Hook Norton and local rivals Carterton.
