The start of the Owls first season in the NCEL top flight saw them pitted against league veterans Liversedge. The Owls took an early lead when Marc Cooper struck in the 5th minute, however it wasn’t all one-way traffic as Sedge pulled level not once but twice, but the fitness of the Owls paid dividend and they ran out 6-2 winners in the end.

The Owls didn’t have it their own way in the league though as Albion Sports arrived next in the first home match of the season. A last minute penalty from Alex Cusack saw the first fast of defeat for the Owls.

Just 3 days later though and all was forgotten when the Owls competed in their first ever FA Cup match. Borrowash Victoria where the Owls opponents and they took a shock lead, but order was restored as 2 quick goals before and after the break saw the Owls win 4-1.

The month ended with a 6-1 thrashing of Parkgate then a long away trip in the FA Cup against Gresley which somehow ended 0-0 with the hosts having over 15 shots on target!
