A special good afternoon and welcome to this, our first game, back at the newly developed Linden Club ground. Welcome to Grimsby Town supporters, players and staff, for this our opening friendly game of the coming season.

Its been a busy few months at the club, finishing off the ground development and organising the open day last week and I’d like to say a special thank you to all the club volunteers, players, staff and board members for coming together and making it all a reality. Special thank you to MP’s Melanie Onn and Martin Vickers for coming along and cutting the ribbon. Also, the past weeks has seen two successful and well supported junior tournaments that again could not have happened without the great support from the club, junior coaches and volunteers – again, a special thanks to all involved who made the tournaments a success and that so many of our younger players enjoyed competing in.

I would also like to take the opportunity today to thank a long standing member of the club, Kenny Vincent, who at the end of last season stepped down from two very important roles in the first team as kit man and physio. Kenny will remain a popular figure at the club as he takes up his new role as Club Ambassador.

I would just like to finish by saying thanks for all the great support the team received last season with our up’s and down’s but let’s look forward to a great season, back home here at the Linden club, with your continuing support.
