Brigg Town 0-4 Cleethorpes Town
Four second-half goals were enough for the Owls to comfortably beat Brigg Town on Saturday.
Braces from Luke Mascall and Marc Cooper saw an easy win in the end against the local rivals.
Manager Marcus Newell keep with the same line-up from last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Armthorpe Welfare.
A goalless and quite uneventful first half saw both Owls and Zebras fail to create any chances to note with both keepers un-troubled.
However, just two minutes into the second half the net was bulging. Owls winger Mascall slotted under Brigg keeper Jody Barford to give the Owls the lead.
It was 2-0 just ten minutes later as Cooper latched onto a smart through ball. He rounded Barford and had the easiest of finishes.
Cooper should have had two in two minutes but he long range shot came back off the cross bar much to his frustration.
With 15 minutes to go the Owls pushed further forward and scored two goals in quick succession to put the game way beyond a lack lustre Brigg side. Firstly Cooper smashed the ball home from 12 yards then Mascall sprinted through and rounded off a fantastic second-half performance as he slotted past Barford.
The win sees the Owls just two points off the top but Tadcaster do have two games in hand but with just three weeks of the season left, for the Owls to still be in the mix, it has been a very successful campaign whatever the final outcome.
