On Saturday the FA Cup adventure continues for the Seasiders at Southern League Division 1 South Frome Town, kick off 3pm. Clevedon produced an upset in the previous round winning 2-0 at another Southern League side, South Division 1 Central Aylesbury United, whilst Frome were winning 6-2 at Toolstation League Falmouth Town, with former Seasider Ben Griffith netting a hat trick.
There are other links between the sides apart from being Western League rivals for many seasons. Frome are managed by former Seasiders keeper Danny Greaves who played 194 games for Town including the 1st Round FA Cup tie against Chester in 2006. And they are captained by Sam Teale who played 138 games in the Clevedon defence between 2010 and 2014.
As for pointers for Saturday, the last FA Cup clash between the sides came in 2003 when a Steve Lester goal earnt the Seasider a 1-1 draw at Frome and in a dramatic replay at the Hand, after Lester had again given Clevedon the lead, Frome came from two goals down to win 3-2 in extra time. Both teams also won 2-0 in the week and Town remain unbeaten this season which sets up Saturday for a potential FA Cup classic.
Assistant manager Mark Selway said after the 2-0 win at Oldland Abbotonians, “We’re really looking forward to it – we’re the underdogs but we’ll go there positively and see what happens.”
For Seasiders supporters travelling to the game, Town will be playing in blue and white and the post code of the Badgers Hill ground is BA11 3EH.
