Midweek action for the Seasiders this week is on Wednesday at newly promoted Oldland Abbotonians kick off 7-45.
The sides have met once before in 2021/22 in what turned out to be a goal filled Les Phillips First Round tie at Oldland which Town won 6-4, notable now for the fact that none of the Seasiders scorers of Archie Ferris 2, Ethan Feltham, Callum Eastwood and Oli Babington are still with the club.
There is one other connection between the clubs when after beating the former Oldland FC 5-1 in a friendly in 1997/98 the Town manager Steve Fey signed the Woodman brothers Clayton and Scott from the club and Clayton Woodman is the current Abbotonians Chairman!
Back to the present and after winning promotion through the play-offs last season Oldland have had a difficult start to life in the Premier Division with only one narrow 3-2 win against Saltash United to their name in contrast to the Seasiders unbeaten start.
However, with 8 goals in all games Oldland have shown they are capable of scoring and the Seasiders will need to ensure they put in another shift at the Memorial Playing Fields and don’t have one eye on their FA Cup tie at Frome on Saturday.
