Promoted Oldland Abbotonians make their first ever visit to the Everyone Active Hand Stadium on Saturday. The Seasiders have only met the current Oldland Abbotonians club twice. The first game between the clubs came on 21st February 2022 at Castle Road in the Les Phillips Cup 1st Round. It turned out to be an exciting goal filled game which Town won 6-4, notable now for the fact that none of the Seasiders scorers of Archie Ferris 2, Ethan Feltham, Callum Eastwood and Oli Babington are still with the club.
The first league fixture between the sides earlier this season was far less dramatic when the Seasiders were 2-0 winners at Oldland. Town grabbed the lead in first half added time with a spectacular Owen Punselie shot with the second coming in the 69th minute from Sam Beresford. Since then, Oldland have lost 5 games out of 6, the exception being a 4-2 win against St Blazey, who the Seasiders also beat last week, and they languish in 16th place in the table.
But Manager Alex White is not underestimating the task on Saturday. He said, “Oldland will be a completely different and difficult challenge and when you’re on an unbeaten run, like us, all teams want to be the first to beat you and tend to raise their game, so we’ll need to be up for it again.”
